The Challenge

A client undergoing a major ERP transition from a legacy Warehouse Management System (WMS) to SAP needed support preparing their item and vendor master data for migration. With over 25,000 item records and 5,000 vendor records, the organization lacked the internal bandwidth and data integrity controls to complete the work accurately and on time.

Our Approach

We were engaged to lead the data cleansing and migration readiness effort for the item and vendor master records. We worked closely with the client’s supply chain, IT, and project teams to validate legacy data, resolve discrepancies, and ensure completeness ahead of system cutover.

Key focus areas included:

• Reviewing and validating over 25,000 item master records and 5,000 vendor master records
• Identifying incomplete, duplicate, or inconsistent data fields
• Partnering cross-functionally to research missing attributes and standardize values
• Reaching out directly to key suppliers to obtain updated contact details, lead times, and part specifications
• Preparing clean, SAP-ready upload templates in line with system configuration and business rules

• SAP Template Preparation – Populated validated item and vendor records into SAP upload templates per configuration requirements
• Cross-Functional Coordination – Worked with sourcing, IT, planning, and receiving teams to resolve data ownership and accelerate reviews
